Although embolization is standard of care for some BCLC stages of HCC, hepatologists,
oncologists and general practitioners sometimes do not understand the ins and outs of
different techniques, when to refer, and the patient experience. There are many
resources detailing technique, but these are largely written for Interventional Radiology
audiences, and contain much more detail than other individuals caring for patients with
HCC need to know. The goal of this webinar is to provide information specifically
targeted to hepatologists and others in the HCC care team about how embolization is
used. This will also help practitioners explain these aspects of care better to patients.
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:
  • Identify patient selection for transarterial embolization
  • Differentiate the difference between bland (TAE) and chemoembolization (TACE)
  • Describe the patient experience for trans arterial embolization techniques
